| Do It !!!! | Announcing nation-wide petition drive: Do NOT impeach the President
from Do Not Impeach President Clinton, Oct 4, 1998 Who would believe that two private citizens would attempt to start a nation-wide petition drive without the help of any organizations? What would motivate people to do that? What kind of issue would be important enough to merit such action? It's driven by frustration, by a sense of country, by patriotism, and most of all, by the knowledge that we are in the majority in our efforts. The frustration comes into play because even though we are in the majority in our beliefs, our Congress, elected by US, is not listening to US, their constituents. We could bury our heads in the sand, or join others in our complaints, or we could DO something. Thus explains the formation of our grassroots, nation-wide petition drive to demand/urge that our Congress NOT impeach our President. It is truly amazing to us that even though the majority of this country does not think that President Clinton's actions were impeachable offenses, our elected Congress seem hell-bent on impeaching him. Obviously, they forget that they are there in Congress as OUR representatives. Obviously, they forget that they shall be held accountable for their actions when they come up for re-election. Obviously, they don't care. Obviously, they think we don't care. Obviously, they are wrong! First, we must be sure that they know without a doubt how we, the voters, are concerned about their actions. We owe it to them to let them know how we feel and how strongly we feel about it. That's only fair. Our petition drive started out online, and we're seeking other ways to get the petition out to everyone. Across this nation, regular citizens are circulating petitions that will be collected and delivered to our Congress. They deserve to know how serious we are before they make any kind of serious mistake in Congress. We urge a visit to our website to see the petition. Then, we urge you to cover this story, as you continue to cover this issue. It would certainly provide "the other side of the coin," something not often covered by the news media. Our efforts are growing. People are starting to find us and they are responding. We plan to collect all the petitions and deliver them to the new Congress BEFORE they make such a horrendous error.
