The Columbus Free Press

Letter to the Editor - Dec 18, 1997

Free Press Staff Too Boring

I received the Free Press' calls and I meant to RSVP sooner. It is truly sad that with life being so short that people waste so much time and energy on retroactivities such as a single in-print issue of the Free Press.

The only thing sadder is the fact that there actually exists an obvious and huge untapped market for an alternative paper (in print) in Columbus, and that those who imagine themselves in the vanguard of this type of journalism fail to see it.

I quit contributing to the Free Press when it's editors and authors adopted the policy of minimizing its readership by excluding, through the medium of tedium, anyone who was not as boring as they were. The Free Press I was associated with passed away years ago, and to resurrect it would make me an accessory to a felony -- gross handling of a corpse.

That being said, I thank you very much for your interest and hope you all have a happy holiday season.

Best wishes,
Paul Volker
