Florida mom wants child support from Ohio dad
by Belinda S. Poczik, Sep 19, 1998 It is a shame that in today's society we have deadbeat parents who do not pay their child support. These parents do not care that their children's lives suffer because of this. They think, "Oh, someone else will take care of him/her". Never do they realize the days that mom has to skip meals to make sure there is enough for the children, or that the children can't have milk because mom does not have the money to buy it. Granted there are some people who do receive support and misuse it. But the great state of Ohio is good place for a deadbeat to go, especially if their case is in another state. It has been a year and a half since my son's father left Florida to move to Ohio (he did not even tell his son goodbye). He has a decent job and is in the National Guard. I have received one payment of $48.00. That really goes far -- not even a week's worth of daycare expenses. I am so appalled at the Child Support Enforcement Agency that I could just scream. My case had to be restarted because of new legislation that was passed. All of the forms and orders had to be resubmitted to Ohio. I have even called and received no response from Franklin County Child Support Enforcement. I guess since I am in another state, my son does not count. After all his father does not care, why should they. There should be a centralized child support system where a court order issued in one state would automatically be good in all states. If they used the social security data, he could be located and income deductions could begin. I truly hope he reads this, because he is there in Franklin County, hiding from his responsibilities while I sacrifice and scrimp to survive.
