Libraries encourage voter information tables

by Bill Buckle, Nov 3, 1998

Thank you for listing the Ad Hoc Group on Voter Decision-Making Information and myself as "Freep Heroes" in the Summer 1998 issue. Needless to say, the six members of the Ad Hoc Group were very pleased to learn that the Columbus Metropolitan Library Board of Trustees had changed its policy and is now encouraging the branches to set up voter information tables.

Because of the publicity surrounding the policy question on voter information tables, it is hard to tell how many people (including Library Board members) lobbied for a change. But, I do know that one of those concerned citizens was Free Press Managing Editor, Suzanne Patzer.

Suzanne is producer of the TV show "From the Democratic Left." In that capacity, several months ago, she extended a formal invitation to each Livrary Board member to come on the show and explain the rationale for defending the status quo. Thank you, Suzanne!

"From the Democratic Left" appears weekly on Public Access Cable Television, Community 21.

Sincerely,
Bill Buckle
