MISSION
Community Shares is dedicated to generating long term solutions to local problems

The Columbus Institute for Contemporary Journalism is a member of Community Shares of Mid-Ohio.

Community Shares of Mid Ohio (formerly Greater Columbus Community Shares) was established in 1993 as a coalition of locally-based nonprofits for the purpose of collaboratively participating in workplace giving campaigns that provide vital financial support for member nonprofits and foster social change and social justice.

GOALS
* To collaboratively raise funds for the benefit of member 501 (c) (3) nonprofits actively engaged in programs directed toward community improvement, social change, and citizen education and empowerment.
* To establish a strong financial base to ensure the continued existence and effectiveness of member agencies.
* To enhance the capacity of member agencies to accomplish their missions through funding, leadership development, training, and education.

WORKPLACE CAMPAIGNS
Community Shares and our member agencies collaboratively participate in workplace giving campaigns to raise money for member agencies. Workplace fundraising campaigns are an easy way for employees to support the work of nonprofit agencies providing community based programs and services. Donors may designate specific Community Shares agencies to receive their contributions or they may make an undesignated gift to Community Shares. Undesignated pledges are divided equally among Community Shares agencies and added to their designated pledges.
