Departments Iggy's Animal Rights Update
Central Ohio is home to two animal rights organizations and countless animal shelters and pet protection agencies. One of the first is POET - Protect Our Earth's Treasures, an animal rights group that not only keeps an eye on animal experimentation at Ohio State University, but protests circuses, fur-wearing, and rodeos. Another groups with its roots in central Ohio is Mercy for Animals, keeping factory farms under surveillance, exposing cruelty to livestock, and promoting a vegetarian lifestyle. The Free Press animal rights department hosts articles and information from these two activist organizations as well as other animal rights-related news.
