Drexel gateway to host panel discussion featuring consultant on An Inconvenient Truth
by Drexel Theaters
June 18, 2006

In conjunction with the opening of the new film AN INCONVENIENT TRUTH, the Drexel Gateway Theatre will host a panel discussion on global warming issues with a group of local environmental experts. The panel discussion will be held on Wednesday, June 21st immediately following the 7:00 p.m. screening of the film. The panel participants include Dr. Lonnie G. Thompson, Distinguished University Professor, OSU School of Earth Sciences and Senior Research Scientist, OSU Byrd Polar Research Center; Dr. Ellen Mosley-Thompson, Distinguished University Scholar, OSU Department of Geography and Senior Research Scientist, Byrd Polar Research Center; Jed Thorp, Conservation Organizer, The Sierra Club; Kurt Waltzer, Clean Air Strategy Specialist, Ohio Environmental Council and Harvey Wasserman, Senior Advisor to Greenpeace USA and Columbus Free Press Senior Editor.

In AN INCONVENIENT TRUTH, director Davis Guggenheim weaves the science of global warming with former Vice President Al Gore's personal history and lifelong commitment to reversing the effects of global climate change. A longtime environmental advocate, Gore presents a wide array of facts and information about global warming and warns us of the devastating consequences it will have in the coming years.

Panel member Dr. Lonnie Thompson was one of the major scientific consultants on AN INCONVENIENT TRUTH. As one of the world's foremost authorities on paleoclimatology and glaciology, he has led more than 50 expeditions in the last 30 years, conducting ice-core drilling programs in the world's Polar Regions. Both Dr. Thompson and his work appear in AN INCONVENIENT TRUTH.

The panel discussion will include a question and answer session to be held at 9:00 p.m. immediately following the 7:00 p.m. performance.

No admission will be charged for the panel discussion, pending seating availability. AN INCONVENIENT TRUTH opens Friday, June 16 at the Drexel Gateway Theater.
