This section includes articles from the Free Press printed publication. The Free Press has been published in printed form since 1970. At various times, it has come out twice a month, monthly, quarterly and currently, every other month. The Free Press is sustained in part by a core of subscribers who pay to support a free newspaper. It is distributed primarily in central Ohio, focusing in the downtown arts district, OSU campus area, extending north into Clintonville and south into German Village.

The Free Press publishes original works by well-known central Ohio writers and investigative reporters like Harvey Wasserman, Marty Yant and Free Press editor Bob Fitrakis. Well-known national writers and columnists like Molly Ivins, Alexander Cockburn, Norman Solomon, Manning Marable and Michael Moore are regular contributors to the Free Press.

Equally important, the paper is dedicated to publishing the works of new alternative voices, many central Ohio writers published their first bylines in the Free Press. The Free Press will consider any submission for publication or inclusion on the website. We especially like to hear the stories of people’s experiences, from trips to Colombia to investigate the poisoning of crops to the poetry and words of inmates on death row. We also provide an outlet for local political cartoonists, photojournalists and artists.
