Like Joe Stalin at his most deranged, Donald Trump has pitched atomic power toward the abyss.

And we are all attached. 

New US nukes have been priced out by solar, wind, geothermal, battery storage, efficiency, conservation.

More than 90% of the world’s added new energy capacity is renewable. 

BUT Trump’s billionaire backers ow huge inventories of coal, oil, gas and uranium.  They're desperate to cash out those fossil/nuke assets before renewables “strand” them all.

That they kill the planet—and us—is of no apparent concern.

And their decoy—nuclear power—is dead-ending.  

Zero large atomic reactors are under construction in the US.

The final four have failed.   

Two unfinished $9 billion reactor corpses lie dead at VC Summer, SC. 

Two more at Vogtle, GA, cost $40 billion and 14 years to build. 

Now they can’t compete with renewables, burn at 300 degrees Centigrade, spew radioactive carbon and waste. 

Unproven, uninsured Small Reactors can’t impact our energy supply for a decade or more.  

Soaring costs and failing production schedules have already sunk early deals. 

While Trump’s Stalinist sycophants portray the industry as a “can’t-fail” unicorn, they push a power rooted in authoritarianism, at war with both nature and democracy. 

Today some thirty oligarchic entities run 94 uninsured, unregulated US nukes averaging 40+ years of age.  

California’s PG&E has pled guilty to more than 90 charges of federal manslaughter.  Ohio’s Energy Harbor gave a $61 million bribe to Ohio’s House Speaker, now a federal inmate. 

Earthquakes have TWICE damaged Ohio’s Perry.  Just 45 miles from the San Andreas, PG&E’s Diablo Canyon is surrounded by fault lines an NRC staff report says it can’t withstand.   

A plan to retire those reactors was approved in 2018.  But Gavin Newsom demands that Californians pay $11 billion over market to keep them running, killing renewables while making our electric rates the highest in the continental US.

Meanwhile, for the first time ever, a US President has purged (without explanation) a Nuclear Regulatory Commissioner.  A second has quit.  

A thirty-something DOGE reaper with zero tech credentials has shredded the agency’s staff, demanding industry perks be “rubber-stamped” with total disregard for public safety.   

Crypto-AI billionaires want unlimited nuke power with zero liability.  An amateur operation, Holtec, wants $10+ billion in public money to re-start the dead reactor at Palisades, Michigan, funding a public stock offering while killing the transition to solar and wind.  

Holtec has zero experience running or reviving an atomic reactor.  Fellow mega-swindlers play the same game at dead nukes in Pennsylvania and New York. No shut US reactor has ever reopened. 

Decayed  steam generators, embrittled cores and other aged, rickety reactor components have already blown at nukes like Southern California Edison’s San Onofre...endangering people and the planet while torching hundreds of millions of public dollars.

Insulated by federal law, Trumpian nuke scammers deny climate chaos while scorching the Earth.

They say their radioactive Carbon 14 has no impact.  That “atomic energy” is an “all the above” unicorn along with renewables.

Before World War 2, the ever-paranoid Joe Stalin purged his best generals, opening the door for Hitler,  just as Trump today purges any federal regulator who can see, speak or add.

Thus our 94 decrepit US nukes have no credible oversight.  Their billionaire buccaneers have zero liability for their heat, carbon or radiation releases…or for the next mega-disaster.

Uninsured and unregulated, America’s dictatorial nuke pushers are incompetent, greed-driven, uncaring, unaccountable.

They’re at the brink of killing our planet as a whole while threatening each of us individually.  

We DO have a renewable answer.  

But we need to shut ALL those old reactors, and stop the new ones, before they bankrupt and nuke us all.
